Ultra Sleek Stria Vertical Cladding Solution
Vertical Stria Cladding Used for Contemporary Boxy Home
“This cladding choice has allowed us to create an affordable, quality home.”
Designed and built by Registered Master Builders Haven NZ Ltd, this simplistic two-storey box-shaped home nestles neatly into the surrounding environment. Clad in vertical Stria Cladding, the boxy shape and modern colour palette showcase the contemporary thinking put into this build.
The broad, clean lines of Stria Cladding create a modern finish and a very architectural solution – bold, yet simplistic in its design. Aaron Mowll, Haven Project Manager, explains that the density of the site presented streetscape challenges; “because the home is located in close proximity to other homes, it needed to blend in, but have some individuality.”
With streetscape in mind, Stria Vertical Cladding was specified for its design flexibility; “Stria Cladding helped us achieve a distinctive, architecturally pleasing look in this up and coming part of Auckland.” “The cladding is installed vertically,” explains Monteith, “Which gives a contemporary, dynamic edge to the home, adding interest and elongating the upper level. We had envisaged using a dark colour on the upper level of this building, so by using Stria Cladding this was able to be achieved.”
Vertical solution
Stria Vertical Cladding has a sturdy horizontal groove that gives the classic look of modern masonry, and by specifying a darker colour palette for the build, a modern look and feel was also achieved. Most builds on the street use earthy shades like black, grey, charcoals, subtle greys and whites. Homeowners and architects alike appreciate the beauty and simplicity of a consistent yet distinctive streetscape, so it was important to keep the colour palette consistent with the theme of the street.
“Stria Cladding allowed us to use the darker shades to complement the lighter shades used in the garage and lower level” says Monteith. For this build, Stria Cladding was specified for the upper level to provide a distinct look with visual appeal, but this cladding can be used in many different ways. Architects are using Stria Cladding for fully wrapped houses, for distinctive feature walls and also to create an indoor-outdoor flow, perfect for the New Zealand lifestyle.
Engineered for stability, Stria Cladding is made in New Zealand from premium fibre cement designed to withstand our harsh weather conditions. For that extra peace of mind, Stria Cladding is resistant to fire and damage from moisture and rotting enabling a beautiful yet structurally sound build. “This cladding choice has allowed us to create an affordable, quality home that is unique to other builds on the street, while fitting in through the use of similar colours.”
